IN MALAWI, Orfund have worked with the Banda family since January 2000, and in April of that year they took the first five children into their home.  Since then the home has expanded to just under 30 children, and we currently have plans to enlarge our building to take a further 15. 

Since its inception the home has gained an unblemished local reputation despite facing huge difficulties.  It is still the only orphanage in the whole of the Dedza district!

In Malawi there is a desperate shortage of carers, with the HIV/AIDS pandemic having decimated so many families, where one child in eight is orphaned!

Recently crop failures have created famines, which have impacted terribly on the weakest and most vulnerable.  Our Molima Home works closely with community and other organisations in developing orphan training workshops and other projects on our home site.
