Partnering and establishing orphanages, orphan centres, and children's homes in Asia and Africa, Orfund have worked to rescue and care for needy orphans since 1983.

Orfund partners run foster homes or orphanages where the children (most of whom have lost both parents) are supported physically and emotionally in every way.  We provide a decent stable home, food, clothing, medical care, all educational needs, and much more besides.

SMALL ORGANISATION, BIG IDEAS  Orfund has a small office, manned exclusively by unpaid volunteers; in this way ALL the sponsor's donations and the funds we raise go to the children's projects we support.  Minimum administration - maximum effect.

MAKING SURE NOT MAKING SORRY - Sponsorship costs just £16 a month - not so much in the developed world, but it goes a long way in developing countries.  We give our time freely to make sure ALL the Sponsor giving gets to the needy and the needy get what they need - monitoring our friends in every aspect of their spending.  Our partners also have regular visits from observers; corroborating the healthy and happy homes they run.

RUNNING AN ORPHANAGE OR FOSTER HOME - A CALLING, NOT A BUSINESS  We have helped not only pastors, but also many ordinary people to become home providers for orphans in several developing countries.  We do not believe in setting up institutions, but rather empowering dedicated groups and families to realise their potential.  Children need minimum bureaucracy and maximum love.

HISTORY IN BRIEF:   At its inception, our mission was founded when Orfund chairman Geoff Phillips met Brother Anandraj, who with his wife, was running a small children's shelter in Madras, South India.  Through working together, an Indian trust was formed, which has since developed several orphan homes and foster care centres.

A year after that first providential meeting, ORFUND was registered in the UK, and after a brief period of working in Nepal, we have continued to partner other fledgling groups in India, all dedicated to rescuing and caring for orphans and vulnerable children.  Recently we have felt led to partner the AMEN Trust run by a former catholic priest; also a church Pastor with whom we founded the Shalom Family Home.

Our involvement in Africa started in 1999, when God seemed to point us in the direction of southern Africa, where we enjoyed working with children's agencies from three countries.

Since 2001 we have limited out African mission to Malawi, where we have assisted a family to form a small trust organisation running the Molima Family Home, this being principally concerned with rescuing and caring for the most needy of the region's orphans.
