Home for Rural Poor Boys was started in 1988 as a boys only hostel catering for children of the 10+ age group. Since 2003 we have included girls in our intake, and begun taking children from as young as five. Recently the home has been re-named as the Amen Home, and now has more girls than boys!!!
The home is located in a rural area in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, and is well managed under the directorship of a family man who was formerly a Catholic priest. The home has a happy caring culture, with a serious educational emphasis. Currently over 30 orphan and semi-orphaned children are being cared for.

In 2003 a pastor who had been a well established church minister for 17 years, felt God’s prompting for his church to start an orphanage. Since taking the decision to go ahead and buy land on the outskirts of their town, the church has grown and witnessed many miracles in connection with the new project.
The pastor contacted Orfund early in 2004, and we very quickly established a strong partnership.
The home located in the Dindugal district of Tamil Nadu, currently has three buildings of good construction and has taken in over 40 children where either both parents have passed away, or the remaining parent is for some reason mentally or physically unable to cope.
With such a new project there is an enormous energy and determination to help the young and to grow, which tempered by Orfund’s long experience in managing orphan homes is a combination of real blessing.
